Attempt one...

This morning I woke up bright & early (10am) and believe it or not spent 3 hours making a batch of 12 cupcakes. It definitely shouldn't of taken me that long, but up until today I had approximately 0 baking experience. Looking at them they certainly shouldn't of taken 3 hours and so far I haven't taken a chance and tasted one, my boyfriend (or the boy as I call him) however has and so far he seems alright...

I'm the fussiest eater in the world so decided to start with a basic one with no posh ingrediants, they're called 'Black & White Cupcakes' according to the book...

'Native New Yorkers will be familiar with these cupcakes although they are traditionally found in cookie form at delicatessens throughtout America'

I so far haven't been lucky enough to go anywhere near America so if by any chance anyone who comes across this has been maybe you could let me know if the above statement is true...

So I spent 3 hours on these... my eggs nearly curdled, I couldn't find any salt, my mum washed up my icing bowl whilst I was still using it and the electricity went off briefly. Apart from that and a few swear words along the way I think they turned out pretty decent for my first attempt. Not too sure on the icing though, I think I may have over-filled the cases so they poofed up a bit too much, I shall remember this for next time.

My brother did say he'd only pay 30p for one if they were in a shop though, which is a bit of a downer, but he doesn't pay for anything and would probably expect a Krispy Kreme for 30p and they are delicioussss.
